The Challenge

Creating 3D assets for the metaverse typically requires specialized modeling skills, expensive software, and significant production time. BreederDAO wanted to lower that barrier entirely, enabling anyone to generate custom 3D NFT wearables without technical expertise. The tool needed to handle the full pipeline from 2D design input to wearable-ready 3D output, while keeping the process fast and accessible enough for non-technical creators.

The Approach

The core idea was to let users start with what they know: 2D artwork. Rather than asking creators to learn 3D modeling tools, the platform would take flat designs and map them onto 3D garment templates automatically. AI-assisted iteration would handle the translation between dimensions, letting users refine results through simple controls rather than manual modeling.

The Execution

The platform was built around a generation flow that accepts 2D prints and applies them to pre-built 3D garment models. Users upload their designs, select a garment type, and the system generates a wearable-ready 3D asset. The AI layer handles texture mapping and design placement, producing results that can be iterated on through successive generations.

A decal system was added to give creators finer control over placement and styling. Users can position individual design elements on specific areas of the garment, adjusting scale and rotation to achieve precise compositions without touching any 3D software.

The Outcome

AI Skins reduced the 3D wearable creation process from hours of specialized work to minutes of guided iteration. The platform opened NFT wearable production to a broader creator base within BreederDAO’s ecosystem, enabling artists and designers to participate in the metaverse economy without needing to acquire 3D modeling skills.
